WHAT DOES UNIKA MEAN? Founded in Val Gardena/Grödental Valley by a group of artists in 1994 including sculptors, goldsmiths, polychromatic artists and decorative artisans, UNIKA signifies the production of unique, once-off artefacts by highly skilled artists and craftsmen. It is important to highlight the unique, creative work performed by the artists of the UNIKA group. The individual works are an expression of the creative power and individual talent of each craftsman, guaranteed by the trademark and certification approved by the Bolzano Chamber of Commerce. For 4 days each year, in the second half of August, artists and craftsmen come together to showcase their latest works to the public. Interested visitors have the rare opportunity to interact face-to-face with the artists and find out more about the long tradition of craftsmanship in the Gardena Valley while considering the purchase of a valuable piece of work. Works by the UNIKA artists can be seen at the UNIKA-Sculptors on Show exhibition, held in September, as well as in various national and international exhibitions and fairs or the permanent exhibition at the Galaria Unika, located at the entrance of the town of Ortisei/St. Ulrich.
