The two permanent trails of the IVV International Popular Sports Federation lead across fields, through forests and mountain pastures with views of the valley and of the Dolomites. Registered hikers score points towards completion of the International Certificate of Popular Sports. The local Tourist Office issues participants with an entry card bearing the stamp of the IVV, and containing other relevant information.
The cards are stamped at either of the two checkpoints along the 7.2 km Walther von der Vogelweide Circuit, which is open all-year round. Placards detailing the life and works of the famous poet are soon to be installed along the trail.
The longer 23.5 km Resciesa Circuit has 3 checkpoints and can be walked practically at any time of the year. Among other sites, it passes the Post Trail, the mountain with the cross of Resciesa and the Chapel of the Holy Cross, which is also situated on that mountain.
In addition, there will be a trail for mountainbikes with a length of 23 km.
On 16th July, the 7th Walther von der Vogelweide Hiking Day starts at 8.00 am. Hikers may also compete for lottery prizes. Afterwards there will take place a festival, where festival visitors will be able try the homemade specialities from South Tyrol.
